Colorado 2010

In July we spent a week in Colorado. Grandma and Grandpa have moved into a new house in Golden and we wanted to spend some time with them. We had a great time enjoying some of Golden's unique places and went into Denver to visit the Zoo. Of course the highlight of the week was a trip on the Georgetown Loop Railroad...yet another Colorado train ride to make our boys happy! Patrick's best friend from high school and the best man in our wedding got married in Vail so we had a quick grownup getaway to enjoy the wedding festivities while the boys spent some quality time with the granparents! All in all a successful vacation.

And Allen's First Day!

After a year and a half of dropping Drew at school and asking if he could go, today was Allen's first day of preschool! He only went for an hour today with half his class to hopefully make for an easier transition. It didn't work out so well for us! Allen was being stubborn and didn't want to wear his name tag and it went quickly downhill from there. There were a lot of tears, his teacher had to physically remove him from our arms where he had latched on with all his might. It was rough! He has the same teachers Drew had his first two years here and he has always loved them and the classroom so they were very surprised by his tears today. But he was all smiles at pickup and hopefully Thursday will be much better!

Drew's First Day

Today was Drew's first day of his last year of preschool. He is a 4-day 5 this year so he will go Monday-Thursday. He is excited about his new class. There are three friends from last year and a whole bunch of new friends to make this year!

Almost...

School starts next week and we are almost there...almost done with the summer and all the "togetherness" that the heat brings! We attended parent orientation on Tuesday night and then the boys had their meet the teacher days yesterday and today. They both played shy and pretended to be mute. Allen has Drew's old teachers so they called him on it - "Allen, you ran into this class every day you could last year talking a mile a minute so don't pretend you are shy!" He warmed up a little but I still think it's overwhelming. I'm not sure how next week will go!

"Look Daddy - it's the Gand Canyon!"

"Uh-huh!"

So fun to hear him talk about his memories!

Their New Favorite Show...

The boys (that is all 3 of them!) love the show "Wipeout". Tonight Patrick turned it on as we were finishing up dinner and Drew said "Oh Daddy - look at what's on TV! It's Wipeout!" and Allen said "It's the Os'tacle course show!" They then sat on the couch enjoying ice cream cones and laughing hysterically at the people falling all over the place. True joy...

A Very Busy July!

We had a very busy July - a wonderful trip to Colorado followed quickly by a long visit to Tennessee and an "adults only" cruise to the Caribbean. The boys had a week with their cousins at Nana & Grandaddy's house and had a great time! I hope to get photos posted soon along with a synopsis of highlights from each trip. We'll see how long that takes me...

Allen-ism

I've been horrible at recording all the adorable things the boys say. They are so cute but half the time I have forgotten them an hour later. (I have a REALLY bad memory!!) So here is one that stuck from last night...
Allen - while sitting down for dinner...
"Daddy has somegetti, Drew has somegetti, Mommy has somegetti and I have somegetti! Yummy!"

Oh - and as our babysitter was leaving and saying goodbye to the boys the other day (she is off on vacation and then when she gets back we leave for Colorado so it will be a while before they see her again)
Drew - "Miss Lauren is our favorite baby sister! Oh, I mean babysitter!"
Allen - "I gonna miss Miss Lauren. She my BEST FRIEND!"
